As your season comes to an end, I reflect on all the memories made through the years, watching you, coaching you, and seeing you grown and develop as a soccer player. You have done an incredible job and put in a lot of hard work and effort. The skills that were developed during the past years will be a stepping stone to your future success. The trips, the practices, the games, they were all a joy to be a part of. Keep up the great work, Sunshine!

It can be challenging to balance creating a future while living for what life has in store today. But the future writes each day. It is built on each step we take, whether it be a choice or action, what we do with our thoughts, or how we navigate our emotions. It can be challenging, and even overwhelming at times, looking at having to take that next step. But that step is yours to take. It is not anyone else’s. So take that step that is yours. Walk the journey to your own authentic future. You are the creator within the canvas God has provided you. We can spend our lives seeking acceptance from others, but it costs us our own…our own authenticity, our own joy, our own peace, our own purpose. Make each step intentional.
Sometimes we may find ourselves having to alter our course but that’s ok. Sometimes we may have to backtrack. It’s ok also but pay attention to the path traveled and don’t go too far down the wrong one. It takes longer to return to get back on the right path. This journey is yours. As your dad, I am here to support this journey you’re on to find and fulfill your purpose, the be that foothold when you need security, that solid surface when you need to find your balance, and the light to guide you on your path and out of the darkness.
The journey may seem daunting and uncertain at this point in life, but it will not always be that way. Clarity will come. Insight will show itself. Give it time. You got this! I know you do, it is built within you.

Each memory we make is like building a city, and that city is home to the woman you are becoming and will become. Some memories will be happy, some not. But each has their own value and lesson. Cherish them all, they make up the incredible young woman that I see before me each day, and the young woman you see in the mirror each day should always be the woman you are most proud of and love the most.

This week, you’ll be dancing your way into a new adventure. A test for yourself. If there is one thing I am sure for you, it is when you sent your mind to something, you will get it done. As you get older, there will be more “x factors” that come into play and can influence plans. Always remember what is within your control…your thoughts, your feelings, and what you do about them. As you take the stage in the dance of life, always remember that just by taking that first step and showing up, you have already accomplished more than others. Do your best, have fun, and the experience will be one to remember and learn from. I believe in you and what you set your goals on. I am always proud of you and the determination you show.

Too often, we take ourselves too seriously…we take life too seriously. We forget to stop and feel the sunshine on our skin, the warmth of life. We can plan our day, but the comedian we call life happens and all bets are off. Just roll with it and enjoy the ride but never lose sight of what lies ahead of you. Always go forward, even when the comedian of life goes for an encore, because life is a funny thing, and if we take it too seriously, we forget to enjoy the gift we have been given – each day, each opportunity, each experience.
